Wooden Model Ships SA

Welcome to the home page of the Model Wooden Ships of South Africa.

The purpose of this website is to showcase Wooden Models built by Gyorgy Bordacs and Daryll Heneke over a period of 15 years (2009 - 2024).

Over the course of their decade-long endeavor, Daryll and Gyorgy delved into a diverse array of model ship categories, each one a testament to their boundless creativity and passion for maritime history. Their collection encompassed a myriad of vessels, spanning from the majestic Sailing Warships that once ruled the seas with their billowing sails to the stately Passenger Liners that ushered travelers across vast oceans in opulent luxury.

Venturing into the realm of modern naval history, they meticulously recreated the sleek profiles of Warships spanning from 1939 to 2024, capturing the evolution of naval engineering and design over the decades. Not content to solely focus on grandeur, they also paid homage to the humble Utility Ships that silently ply the waters, supporting maritime operations with quiet efficiency. Among their repertoire, one could find a treasure trove of other wooden models, each crafted with meticulous attention to detail and a reverence for the timeless allure of the sea.

The various categories of models built by Daryll and Gyorgy over the years include the following:

Sailing Warships, Passenger Liners, Utility Ships, and Other Wooden Models.

The maritime history as well as the build "diary" for each category of ship can be found in the Projects page.
